AGM Thursday 8th September

The Annual General Meeting of Rathmines Chess Club is to be held at the Club Rooms on Thursday 8th September 2011 at 8pm.
All members are invited to attend.
Any member wishing to propose a motion or matter for discussion should send them by e-mail to the Secretary, Andrew McGrath, at apm62@unison.ie by Saturday 3rd September 2011.
Any member interested in joining the Committee should contact the Secretary. We´re particularly looking for a new treasurer.

Season Opener – Saturday, 3rd Sept.

On the weekend of 3rd. Sept. 2011, Rathmines are welcoming guests from Belgium, our old Rathminer Stephan Meskens with some of his fellow club members from Opwijk.

We are organising a special season opening event to mark the occasion and to kick off the season in style! We’ll have a rapid-play team event, followed by a meal in Rathmines afterwards, and then drinks.

To take part, just turn up on the day. We want to start around 2pm, with a meal scheduled for between 6 and 7pm. We’re considering either Monsoon Indian restaurant, or Kafka’s. If you want to go for a meal, please let Michael Kennedy know directly, or add a comment to this posting. We will book beforehand, so need a rough estimate of numbers, thanks.

This will be a great way to open the season (we’ll be doing our AGM the following Thursday) and we want as many people to support the event as possible. The Belgian team will be quite strong (all players over 1800, most over 2000) so we need at least 2 competitive teams to challenge them!
