an interesting set of opening results looks like scott could be a dark horse in the seniors as that is a great result for him against jack killane who is probable one of the hardest opponents to beat due to his trickery and resourcefulness.

  2. GM John Burns says:

How is Shahram-Doyle already a draw? How many moves were in said draw? I think we should be told..

  3. shahram says:

@ John Burns . I played Mr P.doyle last thursday 11-04 ,good game it was . I am in Marbella Spain right now for this week .this message will most likely not be posted like my previous messages . north korea would be proud of the censorship here

  4. Killian says:

Looks like Scott could be the one to catch although its not too surprising. I will be playing from round 2 with my first game on Thursday against John Aherne.

  5. leon fagan says:

A quick question as both John Aherne and Killian missed the first round is the bye a half point or is it a full point.if only a half point both players may find it hard to catch Scott.by the way it is nice to see so many juniors coming through credit to both James and Maura who do a lot of work behind the scenes for Irish chess in general and deserve a lot of credit.

  6. Nick S says:

    Leon,
It’s hard believe Scott is still only 13 and was rated under 900 in January last year. I am very relieved he is not in my section anymore -i was beaten by Scott in a weekender and have seen him improve so much these past three years. Abul will be very strong next week, so it should be a great matchup.

  7. leon fagan says:

nick your correct Scott has risen in the ratings very quickly which is nice to see however abul is a very good player so it should be an interesting tactical game.By the way nick well done to both yourself and fiacra for scoring well in leagues this year. You may get to play me in the new season in bea.
