  1. leon fagan says:

well done to vladislav great preformance.Does anybody know if a fixture list for the leagues has come out yet?

  2. shahram says:

There is a lot of speculation in media specially fox news about the reasons for my withdraw from blitz competition last week which are totally false .Here is what happened last week I played against the russian guy and I was white and opened e4 and he played alekhine defence and first 10 moves were book and again I made the same mistake I did last week even though I looked at position and knew what I should’ve done , I simply forgot and since I could no longer get perfect 9 out of 9 I lost interest and did not care anymore and seeing that michael was not playing I decided to withdraw so he plays a few rounds by replacing me . Why should michael be always the one keeping scores and not playing ? he comes from city centre and after club he has to go back home sometimes late at night and we all know dangerous city centre is at night , simply too many scumbags and junkies prowling the streets . My recommendation to michael or any chess player who lives in city centre is this . . 1.wear a hoodie 2. walk fast 3. swing your arms wildly as you walk , if you follow these instructions there is % 90 reduction of chance of getting assaulted or mugged , you can further reduce the odds by a further %7 if cursing loudly as well . I don’t think I’ll go to AGM , Last year I went and made several ingenious suggestions and nothing happened .when it comes to suggestions , europe can be divided to 3 zones . In northern europe like germany if you make a suggestion , if they don’t like it they tell you why in your face and if they do they adopt it . in peripheral europe like ireland , any suggestions , every one says it is a good idea but almost never do anything about it and in southern europe people don’t like hearing suggestions because they don’t want to do any work and everything is manana ( tomorrow ) .

  3. shahram says:

@ Leon . someone is updating leinster chess union upcoming fixture list , so hopefully if not today then tomorrow

  4. leon fagan says:

thanks for that shahram looking forward to facing the 2 rathmines teams should be fun

  5. leon fagan says:

just saw the fixture list dates to be confirmed later but we get to visit rathmines once while the second rathmines gets to visit us.get studying lads.

  6. shahram says:

Leon . It is sad not to see rathmines listed in armstrong division . if the club had listened to me last year , right now we would have had one team in armstrong and two in heidenfeld , if you look back at my comments from start of last season you can see . I argued that 2 decent players should be left in heidenfeld and not every decent player be taken to rathmines B armstrong , we would have survived in the division ( we were just 2 points short of survival ) and those 2 decent players could have subbed for rathmines A armstrong and guarantee it’s survival as well and a rookie like me would not be sitting on board 5 of armstrong against gonzaga last year ..This year I am available to select players for teams if I am asked as undoubtedly I am the most qualified for the task .I have been asked to be captain of one of teams which I am grateful for the offer but problem is that I work til 7pm and tend to arrive late at venue and as result will not be a good captain , I am playing in bray open 6 weeks competition as we speak and arriving around 25 minutes late for each game .

It is important to learn from mistakes ,let me tell you a great example , a very long time ago when I was a teenager and living in a distant land , the government there decided that teenage boys should get work experience in the real world so part of academic year you were attached to a business or shop where you worked for free and got experience . I was assigned to a grocery shop and first day I came in ,the old guy who owned the shop showed me what to do and he sat down on a chair reading newspaper while I dealt with customers , one guy came in asking for kidney beans and I told him we didn’t have any and the guy left , the old man after seeing that told me if a customer comes in and asks for a product we don’t have try to interest him in something else to buy ,preferably something in similar line for example that guy asked for kidney beans if we don’t have any tell him we don’t have it but we have these lovely fresh peas which just came in yesterday , I said ok , after a while a lady came in asking for toilet paper and I told her we don’t have it but we have a lovely sandpaper . the woman gave me a funny look and asked if I was mad , the old man came over apologizing to that lady and told me to go home .After that incident I was assigned to a slaughter house where my job was basically was to slaughter chickens ,I tell you that place gave me nightmares for a long time . I learned my lesson from that day I tell you .

I find it strange that you have passed , on promotion to division 4 and instead playing division 5 next year

  7. leon fagan says:

shahram there is nothing strange in me passing on promotion to division 4.lets put it this way i have an overall stragedy/plan for round towers and promotion to division 4 for this coming season did not fit into this plan. Also for what it is worth round towers do not take short cuts and should be a competitive bea this season with the likes of gorey and skerries in the division along with the 2 rathmines teams.

  8. shahram says:

What a disappointing week , on wednesday I am playing against ray orourke 1907 in bray , I have queen , rook and 4 pawns against his queen , bishop & 3 pawns , I m up 3 points in material and computer gives me another 6 points for position and wondering why my opponent not resigning and instead of at least a simple forced exchange and use extra pawn to win , I decide to mess around and make random moves and BANG my queen goes ,I am a total rookie , then yesterday rathmines committee meeting I was expecting to be invited in for league team selection as the greatest strategist this club has ever had and no one invites me in ?! poor eoin tries to get in to see what is going on and is asked to leave and I can’t hear through partition which last year I could do easily which means my hearing is down and now need a hearing test . Looks like I’ll be playing in rathmines B heidenfeld and in my calculation I’ll be near the bottom board after playing board 3 all last year heidenfeld., so many disappointments , It is amazing how I am coping and manage to keep going like this . Playing in city competition tonight against terry creighton , if some one reads this please tell him I’ll be late as I work til 7 pm , thanks
