It’s sad to see that without me the comment box section in rathmines website is such a desolate place , not worry I will post some stuff later today or tomorrow.

  2. shahram says:

WOW ! , nigel short is now posting on facebook in ” irish chess ” telling kevin o’connell to be ashamed of himself for supporting fide president kirsan ! , using argument I posted here 2 years ago , head of fide that goes and meets genocidal dictators like saddam, gadaffi, assad & believes he was abducted by aliens is not fit for his office , kirsan is only vladimir putin’s lapdog. in irish chess facebook account on the top you see a man with a laptop giving a chess lecture , his name is GM bogdan lalic , I tell you how I know , I was in bunratty chess competition last feb and on saturday i kept seeing this man sitting rather uncomfortably on a chair near entrance hall with his laptop on his lap , he was sitting there as to be able to plug in his laptop to a socket where the hotel internet point was and was so immersed in his laptop analyzing games that a skirmish could have taken place around him and he wouldn’t know ,as always a good citizen on sunday morning I pointed another location further down the hall to him where he could plug in his laptop and sit comfortably with a table and he thanked me and went there and was joined by gm baburin as soon as he went there I said that man must be a titled player and sat down in front of internet point and dropped 1 euro to get 10 minutes of internet access and started looking for images of titled players in bunratty and less than a minute later knew he was GM bogdan lalic , looked at a short description in wikipedia about him which stated he was previously married to susan lalic and clicked on her name in wikipedia and it stated she was originally married to GM keith arkell , now where did I see that name before , yes keith arkell played in bunratty classic 2013 and masters 2012 and not show up this year and gm lalic did , so I drove to the conclusion that gm lalic perhaps did NOT come to bunratty to play chess but to meet gm arkell to talk about the woman they were both married to and both divorced and gm arkell was not interested and didn’t turn up , interesting !.I look and still have 5 minutes left on pc but there is no headphone , only thing to do is to watch another miley cyrus video without sound !.

  3. mjdkennedy says:

Tony – that tweeted Branagan result is wrong! It was a 0 – 6 whitewash vs Phibsboro

  4. shahram says:

Hello , Mr president of rathmines chess club
Tony rarely reads comments here even though he is the moderator ! , best to text or ring him . if you need my help to run this website or twitter,I’ll be happy to oblige . Whitewash team got beaten 6-0 by phisboro , what does that have to do with rathmines ? , just kidding , that is a bad result and should be a wake up call for next league season but I don’t really blame the players for the result ,I can imagine ,poor souls sitting there playing chess while most of their thoughts would be on how to get back safe to their residence from that maximum security hostel !.

  5. shahram says:

Yes , I was invited to play for the branagan team against phibsboro but thanks to my semi-infinite wisdom I did not go , I knew that the match would be an unmitigated disaster and had I gone I would have almost certainly won my game while the rest of team lost theirs and later that night I would’ve be tossing and turning in bed and unable to sleep due to survivor guilt feelings! .

  6. shahram says:

In response to the rathmines tweet about my game with pat mcevoy .I did win the game with checkmate in 11 moves but white position was lost anyway , Pat was mesmerised by the dancing knight and the H pawn creeping up to his king’s position and didn’t see their big sister coming from the right . I did ask pat a few minutes later what he would have played to prevent checkmate and he said f4 which I said to him I would have played h3 and engine has black better than 2 points ahead .In sign of my growing maturity , this time I did play the checkmate move straightaway unlike previous episodes where I would have sat back and waited for the horror to dawn on my opponent first .In first of year of playing chess I was immature, for example when my opponent would play the sicilian defence ,I would think to myself that they wanted to tell me that they were sophisticated and were a snub! .

  7. shahram says:

Is club championship matches are on this thursday or waiting for postponed games to be played ?

  8. shahram says:

yeah , probably pairing be posted late tonight , I will give another unique chess psychology lesson when next pairing is out .
