Congratulation to Donatas for winning rathmines blitz , After flying from Dallas to new york and getting a connecting flight from there to Dublin, I arrived at 6:30 am on the morning of last round of blitz and having not slept for over 36 hours I went to the club to play and scored 5 points which I think is amazing , I showed my boarding card to several pople at the club as proof.

    “SCAM ALERT ! ”

One of the motions on icu agenda is about paying 700 euro to parents of kids who paid for two coaches from Dublin to go to glorney cup competitions with them , First of all , I described this competition as ” GARBAGE” for example look at stokes cups and look at rathminors opponents there , nearly all their opponents were way rated lower than rathminors , waste of time &money as I said and could have gone to british junior championship held around same time with far stronger opponents and more rounds . I was in british chmapionship and there were a couple irish juniors and they did very well there and had no coaches with them , Why these parents were burdened with additional 700 euro to bring these two coaches with them? could the coaches not wait till kids came back and go over their games then ? some of parents of kids also play chess and familiar with tournaments set up and not as if they needed to be showed around, and now trying to pass these UNNECESSARY costs to rest of icu population.

Another STUPID motion is about letting low rated juniors, women and icu executive cronies into irish senior championship , this will be like throwing a fistful of live worms into an apple barrel and meant to destroy this competition , as many high rated player will simply NOT play . This motion was actually proposed last year and was the only time I spoke in icu meeting to oppose it and the proposer withdrew the motion before the vote !, here is link what I stated last year ( second comment posted october 1st )

I also proposed an anti paparazzi motion( prototype) for next icu meeting which I don’t think will get far.

I wonder if any worthwhile motions passed in agm tonight ? I would have loved to come but was scared of falling sleep and starting to snore !.

  3. shahram says:

Yes , in ICU agm it will be argued that the 700 euro was spent for benefit of kids , but the truth is that couple of guys wanted a paid for holiday in scotland and got the parents to pay for it and now it is a case of robbing peter to pay paul ! .

  4. shahram says:

ICU , so clueless , on their site they state they have submitted requests to fide for 2 girls to be awarded their titles but fide has ALREADY awarded them the title according to fide website ! . one is for title of women fide candidate master and other for women fide master and both are rated below me! and since I got No ovaries ,I need to collect another 600 points to get a fide title ! .

  5. shahram says:

Oh well , It didn’t take long before icu website was changed and got rid of of section about requesting titles , the article below it is about icu paying entry fee for world senior championship but No links to tournaments or qualifying age group is given .

    Found it !!

When I was in Texas last week , I mentioned to my relatives there that I play good bit of chess and one them said that 6 years earlier they attended a madonna concert in houston texas and a chess game was being played on a big screen behind madonna ! , now I found the video on youtube , please note the chess game does not begin until 2 minutes into the video and looks like falkbeer counter gambit opening to me and madonna gives analysis a minute later and predicts a mate in 29 moves !! ( she forgets to tell us who wins ! )
